The Northeast Division Champion King Cobras have been a back and forth team all year long trading losses and wins en route to a 4-4 record, but finish up strong with a dominating 30-0 win over Average Joe's.
"It' s a good thing to get hot at the right time," said King Cobras' co-captain Adrian Grandison, "We struggled early on, especially at the quarterback position, but it seems we have found our way and we hope we can ride our late season success to a championship."
Grandison finished with 3 catches for 66 yards and a touchdown to go along with 2 tackles, including 2 sacks on defense. Grandison finished the season with a league leading 7 sacks.
Average Joe's, who had been riddled with injuries and personnel issues came into the game already knowing that they were not advancing to the postseason. The team especially felt the loss of first round pick Diego Radlein, who has played through injuries all season long, but was a key weapon on offense. Joe's struggled again to get much on offense, failing to gain over 100 yards on offense for the third time this season.
The second half saw QB Mackenzie Williams, the number one overall pick of the draft, take over with his arms and legs as he would race up the sideline for a 57 yard score, and add a 25 yard touchdown to Grandison before Brandon Moore would score on his second interception of the day from 40 yards out.
"It was definitely a learning experience for us," said Joe Glori, captain of Average Joe's (1-7), "We also had a lot of fun this year, but we were not able to beat the injury bug and get our personnel groupings right to have success. We'll work out the kinks and we'll be back next year."
Glori finished the day with 2 tackles.
The King Cobras will move on and face off against the Wild Card Winner, Men of Mayhem (4-4) in the Wild Card Round on April 27th.BOX SCORE
