BK Storm Continues their Improbable Run to the QFL Championship Game

BK Storm continued their now 6 game win streak after starting the season 0-4 to keep their improbable run to the chip game alive with a stunning 36-18 victory over the #1 seed in the conference, Stallions.

"Everyone wrote us off after the bad start we had," said BK Storm team captain Marvin Gumbs, "It just goes to show that you can't count the underdogs out, we've still got some fight left in us."

Gumbs finished the game with a catch for 5 yards and a touchdown and a three tackles including one sack in a crucial point in the second half.

The Storm, who seem to have the Stallions number after their 30-12 win in Week 8, did not get off to a particularly good start, giving up touchdowns on the first two Stallions drives, including a 77 yard bomb from QB Bernard May to WR Bjorn Oliver. The Storm responded, however, with 2 touchdown drives of their own, including 2 short touchdown passes from QB Rob Crawford, including a 6 yard toss to WR Andre Newsome. The difference in the first half would be the two two-point conversions that BK Storm were able to secure, leading 16-12 at halftime.

The Storm put on the clamps in the second half and dominated with their league leading defense, and executing efficiently on offense. Crawford was brilliant again, throwing for 317 yards, 4 touchdowns and no picks. Including a spectacular 31 yard touchdown grab from new addition WR Damon Small to begin the second half. The Stallions would respond with a big play from their new addition, WR Myles Bynum on a 53 yard catch and run for a touchdown to close the gap to 24-18 late in the second half. The Storm would march down the field and score on a 5 yard pitch and catch by team captain Marvin Gumbs. The defense would then close out the game as WR/S Terrell Ellis would pick off May and scamper down the sideline for a 52 yard pick six to seal the game for the BK Storm, who will represent the South Conference in Sunday's Championship Game.

"We didn't execute in the second half and they did," said Stallions' team captain Bernard May, "It's as simple as that. I wish those guys luck in the chip game and hope they're able to represent all of us in the South Conference well."

May finished the game 10 of 21 passing for 258 yards, 3 touchdowns, 2 interceptions and added 4 runs for 35 yards.

BK Storm will move on and face the North Conference Champions, Ball So Hard University (8-1) in the Championship game on May 18th at 2pm, and try to reproduce their defensive success from their previous meeting when they handed BSHU their only loss of the season as well as their lowest scoring output in Week 5, edging them 16-12.
