Stallions Prevail in Physical Showdown

Two of the league's best defenses went head to head in this Sunday's game of the Week. The high powered offense of the Stallions proved to be the difference in the game, as they continued to play stifling defense en route to their second straight shutout victory, 26-0 against the Men of Mayhem.

"Our defense was clicking on all cylinders today," said Bernard May, team captain of the Stallions, "Those guys have tremendous heart and matched our intensity all day long, but I am happy we were able to keep them out of our house."

May finished 5 of 15 passing for 161 yards and a touchdown and one interception to go along with 8 tackles and a sack on defense.

The Men of Mayhem were able to hold their own through the first half, but were unable to take advantage of the good field position with early turnovers and penalties. After an end zone interception by WR/S Bjorn Oliver, May found RB Chuck Browne on a screen pass 80 yards up the sideline for a touchdown and that was all it took to get things rolling for the Stallions (4-1). On the ensuing possession, RB/LB Corey Dildy intercepted QB Anthony Oropessa and ran it back 55 yards for a touchdown to put the Stallions up 14-0 to end the first half. Sherwin Kendall, Week 2's Offensive Player of the Week, took over as QB in the second half and ran one in and threw one to WR/S Mike Kenner to make the game out of reach for the Men of Mayhem. The offensive woes continued for the Men of Mayhem as Oropessa threw his second end zone pick of the day late in the second half to seal the shut out.

"It was just one of those games," said Sean Chowdhury, co-captain of the Men of Mayem (2-3), "We went pound for pound with them but we just did not make the plays when it counted. We are still in the race for the playoffs, so we must remain focused on our ultimate goal, which is to win a championship."

Chowdhury ran 4 times for 55 yards in the game.
